Dear Friend,
Game On Cancer 2017 is in full swing, and we are so excited to have you on our team. Keep an eye on these bi-weekly newsletters for the tips, tools, and resources to be a champion for our cancer patients.
SPOTLIGHT:
On June 6, 2017, Henry Ford Health System broke ground for the new Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion. Check out this video to learn more about this new initiative, which is sure to build hope for our cancer patients.
FUNDRAISING TIP:
Is there a milestone coming up in your life? Do you have your own personal
story related to cancer? Sharing these moments on social media and
connecting them to your Game On Cancer efforts is the easiest and most
effective way to fundraise!
Our top fundraiser, Jennifer Kaiser-Blase, started
fundraising just over a week ago and has only used Facebook to solicit
donations. She has shared on her page a total of 3 times.
Jen wrote: In celebration of my 40th birthday, I’ve registered
for the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon (my one and only!). I'm honored to run my half marathon in support of the Game
on Cancer Program. Help me to help cancer patients get resources they need by
sponsoring my run.
EVERY time Jen receives a donation, she
publicly thanks her donor VERY personally.
For example: Margie... my hospital "mom" and dear friend. You've
taught me how to be a compassionate provider and have strength through
adversity. You're one special lady. Thank you for always being there for me and
for your generous donation to Game On Cancer. So glad to have you in my life.
CONTEST:
10 days left to enter to win a VIP Jimmy Buffett ticket package!

MISSION MOMENT:
We had a patient that was in dire need of a bone marrow
transplant as a lifesaving procedure. His perfect match, a brother in Austin,
TX, did not have the resources for flights or accommodations to get to MI. Game On Cancer was able to provide all of that. The brother travelled to Detroit, and the surgery was this week.
This is one small example of the lives you - our participants - are saving every week. Thank you!
GOC TEAM OF THE MONTH: Center for Cancer Surgery
Today,
we're sending a big THANK YOU to one of our top fundraising teams, Center for
Cancer Surgery from Henry Ford Health System.
Team Member Karen Rosinski told us,
"Our team is involved because as the Center for Cancer Surgery at Henry
Ford Cancer Institute, we deal with cancer patients on a daily basis. We
understand the impact that treatment can have on a patient’s finances but also
on their physical and emotional well-being. The assistance that Game on
Cancer offers to patients helps to make a tough time in a patient’s life a
little easier for both the patient and their family."
Shown here at one of
their events, this team has held several different types of fundraisers over
the years, including a painting party at Pips Wyandotte.
Thank you, Center for Cancer Surgery!!!
Contact us if you have any questions, or if you'd like help getting started on your fundraising! We're here to help. Game On!
