Hi Friend,
Ten weeks and
counting down to our Game On Cancer “Field Day” event at Ford Field. We want
you and your teammates to attend this special celebratory event - no GOC
fundraisers will be left behind! Let us know how we can help you get to that
$125 minimum.
CONTEST:
Be one
of the first 20
participants to raise $100 new dollars by Tuesday, Oct. 10th- one
week from today - and this tote will be yours. Bonus: There will be a fun surprise
inside one of the 20 totes!
FUNDRAISING TIP:
Meet our
friend, Pauline Do. Pauline is a HFHS employee and Game On Wellness team member. Pauline had BIG success with her social media fundraising - here's how she did it.
Pauline
posted on her Facebook on a Tuesday night when she had $0 raised. Just 2 days later, she hit $395! Now, Pauline is at $1,000 - all due to her repeat posts on Facebook and Twitter. Pauline
is an awesome example - we encourage everyone to test this strategy with their
own social network! It's fast, easy, and effective. Way to go, Pauline!

TEAM HIGHLIGHT: Henry Ford Allegiance Pharmacy Peeps
Members on team Henry Ford Allegiance Pharmacy Peeps
have intimate experience with a terrible cancer diagnosis, and each member has been touched either indirectly, or directly, by the disease. Team captain, Becky Cook, was
inspired to get involved with Game On Cancer because of her mother, who was
diagnosed with cancer in October 2015. Another team member lost her sister to
ovarian cancer in 2000, one has battled cancer, and others have family battling
this disease. The goal of this team? To stand up to cancer so that nobody else
has to go through it alone.
Becky said, “We have seen firsthand how much this money
helps our patients. This money goes to help them with copays, this helps them
to buy groceries, or to pay their normal bills.”
The team, which has raised $4,097 to date, has hosted a
Little Caesars Pizza fundraiser, put canisters in the Pharmacy, had pop bottle
drives, and hosted two LuLaRoe fundraisers. They’re not stopping now, and say
that they have plans to hold many more fundraisers in the future. Thank you,
Team Henry Ford Allegiance Pharmacy Peeps, for being an AMAZING and
inspirational team!
MISSION MOMENT:
Yvonne, a 56 year old stage IV breast cancer patient, lost her home when she wasn’t
able to keep up with bills because of her cancer treatment. After staying in a long-term
care facility for a year, she moved in with her daughter and 6-month-old
granddaughter, Zoe. While Yvonne was grateful for the warmth of her daughter’s
home, she did not have a bed and had been sleeping on the floor. Her social
worker, Tara Forton, at HFCI-Macomb told us about Yvonne’s situation.
Thanks to the generosity of GOC fundraisers and team-members, we were
able to deliver Yvonne a bed and warm quilt within one week. We spoke
with Yvonne recently and she said, "I am so grateful for the bed and
love playing with my granddaughter on it, too.”
Contact us if you have any questions, or if you'd like help getting started on your fundraising! We're here to help. Game On!
