Social media tips and tricks | Game On Cancer 2020

Here are some examples and best practices for using social media (particularly Facebook and LinkedIn) to maximize your fundraising efforts!

Facebook, Facebook, Facebook!  This has been an absolute proven method of easy and effective fundraising for Game On Cancer.  Below are 3 sample posts – we recommend posting once a week – the Facebook algorithms are such that only a small percentage of your FB friends will ever see the post.

There are several images on our website that you can use for Social Media posts.

Post ideas:

1. Do you have a personal story related to a cancer journey? Share it. Are you fundraising in honor or memory of someone? Tell their story and honor them!

(Example: I was 16 when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Watching her battle her disease was difficult and heartbreaking, but thankfully she did not have to worry about paying the mortgage while being treated. I love @Game on Cancer because it helps other men and women have the same chances at survival as my mom.)

2. Having a birthday or anniversary celebration?  Another achievement you’d like to celebrate honoring Game On Cancer?

(Example: Today's my birthday! Instead of presents, I am asking friends and family to donate to my Game On Cancer team. The greatest gift is being able to help others!)

3. Each and every time you receive a donation, publicly THANK that donor on your Facebook page, tag the donor and share a very meaningful story, memory or anecdote about that person. This absolutely inspires other people to give – and then thank them the same way! At the end of each thank you post – include the link back to your webpage.

(Example: Thanks to @Friend for donating to my Game On Cancer page! You've always been a friend I can count on to be there when I need you, and today you were also there for cancer patients who desperately need help. You're amazing!)
