Welcome to my Game On Cancer fundraising page!
When I was 39, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I had two small children, aged 4 and 6. I couldn't believe it was happening to me. I went through multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and five years of medication. Cancer changed my world. Cancer care is expensive. I was not able to work through my treatment. Bills keep coming in, treatments add up. I am well aware of how financially devastating cancer treatment is. When I finally returned to work I wanted to work with patients that had to go through what I did. I think it makes a difference to have a caregiver that knows what it is like to have chemotherapy and have body altering surgeries. I am a Research Nurse in the Clinical Trials Office at the Henry Ford Cancer Institute. I am also a patient advocate for Game on Cancer.
Game On Cancer is a joint partnership between Henry Ford Health System, The Detroit Lions and The Detroit Pistons. 100% of funds raised through Game On Cancer are used to assist cancer patients and their families. Our mission is to remove any barrier or burden, financial or otherwise, that limits or prohibits cancer patients from receiving care and treatment. Through Game on Cancer, I have been able to help patients pay their mortgages, pay for electricity, groceries, pay for chemotherapy, transportation to treatments. We help patients when they need it the most.
By assisting vulnerable patients, their families and their care-givers with the “hidden” costs of cancer, we are ensuring access to treatment for all – serving one patient at a time. Game On Cancer also provides funding for critical research and supportive oncology programs.
Help me support the Henry Ford Cancer Institute by making a donation or joining my team today! The process is fast, easy, and secure. I truly appreciate any support you can provide. It will benefit a great cause.
