On behalf of the Detroit Lions Crucial Catch initiative, Dr. Steven Kalkanis and Spencer Hoover - Dr. Steven Chang has been nominated for the Game On Cancer MVP campaign. What does it take to be an MVP? The drive to provide leading-edge and compassionate care for our patients, the desire to help elevate awareness for the Henry Ford Cancer Institute, the passion to assist our patients with the many hidden costs of cancer care that lead to financial toxicity and a competitive fundraising spirit!
Steven Chang is the Director of the Henry Ford Cancer Institute Head and Neck Cancer program, leader of the HFHS Epidemiology Prevention and Control Program, Chair of the HFCI Quality and Finance Committee. He received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in Biology. He completed his medical school training at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His otolaryngology-head and neck surgery training was also at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Steven then went on to complete an advanced head and neck surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He is currently at HFHS as a surgeon scientist with joint appointments in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Public Health Sciences. He was born in Detroit and raised in the metro area.
